Yes, you can make a fabric 4”x6” quilted postcard that can actually be
mailed for forty seven cents, just like a paper one. You'll learn several
different techniques including how to use the “fussy cut” method of design,
how to work with patterns and, really stepping out there, how to do your own
thing by creating an original piece. And, you'll have the opportunity to
embellish your work! Create cards for friends and family, birthdays,
anniversaries, and holidays - your imagination is the only limit.
Kit includes:
ü
Postcard stock and batting for 3 -5 postcards per student
ü
Fusible web and inter lining
ü
Backing fabric
ü
Freezer paper (for tracing templates)
ü
Patterns for several different designs
ü
A big box of “stuff” for embellishments.
Student to supply:
ü Fabric, particularly novelty prints of your liking (only need small
pieces of fabric)
ü Small amounts of laces, trims, novelty threads, etc. for
embellishing - anything special to you
ü Paper and pencil
ü Machine embroidery thread – (i.e., Rayon 40wt) in one or more colors
ü Scissors or rotary cutters (straight or decorative edge)
ü Sewing machines and supporting supplies – I suggest bringing your
zipper foot, ¼” foot, and open toe embroidery foot or big foot for
quilting. Any or all will be fine.
Come and play with this exciting new technique in quilting, it is very
rewarding! I'll share my postcards and fun stories.
