If you are fascinated by geometric forms executed in counted canvas, and have wanted the challenge of creating your own, bring your ideas to this class! We will walk through the process of creating a design from concept to fixed form. Along the way we will explore what makes a good design, using texture and contrast, and exploiting the many wonderful threads available to full advantage.
Most of the class will be spent creating your own design. As an aid to your design process, we will be playing with ‘paper dolls’ - pages and pages of printed stitch representations you can manipulate on a large sheet of canvas grid paper to help you refine your design. We will also have available a computer loaded with a design software program and a printer, plus help in creating your design on the computer. And, lots of color cards, thread rings, stitch reference books, color wheels and stitched models to reference.
Class kit will include pages of stitch representations to cut out and place on large grid paper, plus access to computer and printer for creating your own design.
Bring your ideas! You’re welcome to bring stash as well, to experiment with thread colors and fabrics. Class members should have a working knowledge of several canvas stitches, but stitch references will be available in class for the students’ use.
Debbie
will be available throughout the weekend to help you fine tune the designs!
