Kumihimo Necklace with
Focal Bead
Teacher:
Libby Roleson
Date/Time:
1/2 day class
Class fee:
$45
Class
maximum: 10 students
Class
participants will learn how to braid a simple eight-strand rope (without beads)
for a necklace which features a barrel bead as the focal bead. The picture
above is a representation of the actual necklace.
Kits will
include: braiding cord, kumihimo disk, barrel bead, cord bobbins, cord end
caps, thread for tying off the rope, a weight for the rope, wire, and clasps.
Student needs to bring:
wire snips for the wire and glue, such as E 6000 or similar glue. The
teacher will have snips and glue in the class for those who don’t have them.
For those
who took the beaded kumihimo class last fall, you are encouraged to not use the
same disk. The cord for this class is much larger than the thread used in
the beaded class. The cord will “stretch” the notches in the disk,
which will make the disk unusable with regular thread.
